You are about to apply to KWEST Inc. YouthBuild, a full-time program in Kingston, NY that will help you make positive life changes and succeed in today’s workforce.

How to Join 1-Pager
Eligibility Requirements
In order to join the KWEST Inc. YouthBuild program, applicants must meet the following 4 requirements:
You must be age 16-24 on the date of enrollment.
A permanent resident of Ulster County, NY.
Be either a high school dropout or homeschooled.
AND be one or more of the following:
A member of a low income family
A youth in foster care
A youth aging out of foster care
A youth offender
A youth with a disability
The child of an incarcerated parent
A migrant youth.
EXCEPTION
We can enroll up to 25% of participants who do not meet the requirements if they can provide proof that they are either:
Basic skills deficient (even if they have their high school diploma or GED) OR
Have been referred by a local secondary school to our program for the purpose of attaining a secondary school diploma.
Our Enrollment Process
1) Submit Application
Complete and submit the application at the bottom of this page. Once submitted, a staff member will contact you to schedule a 60-minute in-person meeting.
2) In-Person Meeting
Go to the in-person appointment at our office and bring the required documents. After, we will be in touch about our Mental Toughness Orientation.
3) Mental Toughness
Attend every day of the 3-week Mental Toughness Orientation. Mental Toughness is a trial period that will introduce you to the program structure and expectations to see if this is right for you.
4) Final Interview
There will be a final interview on the last day of Mental Toughness. After the interview our staff will evaluate your commitment and decide if you are accepted into this year’s cohort.
Documents We Will Need
Your application will not be complete until we have copies of all of the following documents. Please bring them to the in-person meeting that we will schedule once you submit your application.
A) Proof of Age and Citizenship (3 documents)
1) Birth Certificate or Passport
2) Social Security Card or Green Card or Work/Education Visa
3) Photo ID or License or Permit
B) Proof of Ulster County Residency
4) An envelope mailed to you and received by you at your address.
C) Proof of Household Income
5) Proof of total income from every member of your household for the past 6 months. (Documents may include pay stubs, tax returns, a statement from employer, SSI letters, disability documents, survivor's benefits, child support, etc. - all that my apply to your household.)
D) If You Are Under 18…
6) Working Papers / Card

KWEST Inc. YouthBuild
Application Form
KWEST Inc. YouthBuild is a drug free program in accordance with the Drug Free Workplace Act offering opportunity youth ages 16 - 24 with construction skills training and educational services. Participants may receive cash incentives (job training stipend) for the time spent in YouthBuild's job training component. The program is open to all Ulster County residents who meet income and age guidelines. Participants must be school dropouts or officially homeschooled. KWEST Inc. YouthBuild DOES NOT follow the regular school schedule. We are in session 12-months a year, Winter & Spring Breaks, etc., Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., either in the classroom, or at the Construction Site (or otherwise announced by the Ulster YouthBuild Program Director).
DIRECTIONS
In order to apply for KWEST Inc. YouthBuild YOU must complete the attached application (not your parent or guardian or anyone else). If you struggle with reading you may work with someone to help read you the questions but ONLY YOU can provide the answers. The application may take 10-15 minutes to complete. Do not close your browser or tab while filling out the form or you may lose your progress. If you need help, check out our FAQ page or contact us. Answer all questions truthfully - use N/A or draw a line if no answer is applicable. Please read the following instructions carefully before YOU complete the application. All required documentation must be submitted with your application. Make sure you sign the application, and if under age 18, your parent or legal guardian must also sign. Your placement is subject to eligibility, interview results, and availability of funds. Final acceptance into KWEST Inc. YouthBuild will be determined by the selection committee of KWEST Inc. YouthBuild after completion of mental toughness.
